Year 3

Year Three

Welcome to Year 3.

Throughout the academic year the children will be completing a range of exciting topics. In English the children will immerse themselves into a book, then analyse key features of the genres they will be writing about finally they will complete a final piece of fabulous writing about what they have learnt. We follow White Rose in maths but adapt it to the needs of our children, the children enjoy the challenges that we set and the flashbacks at the start of the session. In history we start right at the beginning and learn about the Stone Age, this then moves chronologically into The Bronze and Iron Age and finally we focus on the Ancient Egyptians and actually go to see a real 'mummy' at Bolton Museum. Children will put their DT skills into action when they design and make torches, they will use new stitching techniques that they learn to produce a purse or wallet and finally in the summer children will be producing a healthy wrap - hopefully using some of our own Fruit and vegetables grown in school. In music the children learn new skills in playing the Ukulele.

In year 3 your child will have the opportunity to go swimming- this is a life skill for the future and ALL children succeed by the end of the academic year. Christian ethos is at the heart of our school, the children learn about different religions and go to visit different places of worship in the summer term.
