World Peace Day 2023

2023 Global Peace Day Theme: Actions for Peace:

This year St James’ took part in the annual International World Peace Day.  The theme was a call to action that recognises our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace.  Fostering peace creates a culture of peace for all.  The action aims to bring us closer to having more peaceful, just, and inclusive societies, free from fear and violence.

The school community: staff, parents and children came together to share and celebrate their similarities/ differences and to understand the different traditions and heritages that we have within our school community.

One parent of a Key Stage one child stated, “That was a very moving worship!”

Parents were invited into classes to discuss their heritage in order to develop a deeper understanding of the various cultures, traditions and religions that we have in school. The children at different parts of the day shared reflections in the Peace Garden and painted a peace pebble. They also wrote peace pledges.
