Welcome

Mrs Alison Jackson

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your family to our school.  St James’ has Jesus at its heart. We have developed our LEARN curriculum to reflect both our very distinct ethos, passion for inclusivity, and our local context.

We are very proud of our curriculum which we have written specifically to meet the needs of our pupils and families.

As a school we have close links with St James’ Church, and school and Church regularly worship and pray together.  We have a vibrant worship calendar which is enriched by regular visits from Rev Mark, Rev Fran and Rev Sam together with the ‘Open the Book team’ and the Lighthouse team. We are proud of our joint initiative with St James’ Church to bring the community together mid-week to support each other in the worshipping opportunity ‘Lighthouse’. At Lighthouse we share a meal and join to explore our faith. We would love it if you came along and experienced the fellowship. This takes place on a Tuesday 3.30 – 5.00 in the school hall.

All our staff work together as a team to allow your child to develop through their faith and learning journey fully living out our mission statement ‘Through him we learn to live abundant lives, especially treasuring the values of friendship, trust, thankfulness, respect, forgiveness, hope and courage.’ We expect each of the children in our school to develop to their full potential both academically and socially, so that they become responsible, Christian, caring adults, and custodians of God’s wonderful world.

We want to support the whole child and our dedicated staff team are available to discuss any issues.  Our SENDco will provide support for any children with additional needs and will also signpost to other agencies.

We are rightfully proud of our bespoke SEND curriculum and have developed ‘Mini-shells’ and ‘Three Shells’ as dedicated nurture bases for children with additional needs very much living out our Vision Statement:

Walking hand in hand with Jesus, fulfilling the potential God has given us.

We try to empower our children and provide opportunities for them to have ‘real’ roles within school.  For example, our Worship warriors help to lead whole school worship.   Additionally, we operate School Council, Sports leaders, and Eco.  These opportunities allow our children to mature and grow and more importantly have a real say in how our school is run.

Our Governors work closely with the Executive Headteacher, the Leadership team, and all school staff to provide the very best education they can for the children who attend our school.  In turn our school is proud to be part of the Liverpool Diocese Schools Trust – LDST   who support us in many ways for example training opportunities, school reviews, support with SEND, and health and well-being. As parents and carers of children in our school your views and opinions are always valued.  Through home and school working together we aim to continue to ensure that the children receive the best possible Christian education in a safe and secure environment ensuring that the ethos and the values of our school are maintained.

Kind regards,

Alison Jackson

Executive Headteacher
