Nursery
St James’ C of E Nursery
Welcome to our Nursery.
In Nursery we provide nurture, support and care in order to develop our children into happy, independent and confident individuals in preparation for their school journey. Our curriculum follows the Birth to Five Matters statutory framework, which forms a basis for the skills and experiences staff assist children to develop and engage with through continuous provision and adult supported activities. As with the rest of school, we provide an aspirational curriculum, rich with experiences and opportunities for our nursery children, based on their own interests and our termly themes including traditional tales, nursery rhymes, animals and space.
Our motto in Nursery, is “the messier, the better” engaging in stimulating activities through messy play and sensory exploration, which helps to develop children’s personal, social and emotional skills and their communication and language development. Children can engage in indoor and outdoor provision daily, supporting their emerging physical development and enabling our children to learn resilience, perseverance and inquisitiveness as lifelong behaviours.
Throughout the year, we create experiences and opportunities for our children to learn about other religious celebrations that take place around the world. This enables our children to understand the world around them and be inquisitive and tolerant of differences between themselves and others. We engage in celebrations for Luna New Year, Eid, Diwali and Easter.
