RE

St James’ CE Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled school committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community. Religious Education (RE) holds an important and central place within our curriculum. Religious concepts, beliefs and values are explored through dedicated RE lessons, as well as through class and whole-school Collective Worship.

Following consultation with the Headteacher and in accordance with guidance from the Diocese, the Governors have decided to adopt the Diocesan Syllabus for Religious Education.

Withdrawal from Religious Education Lessons

The Worship and Religious Education provided by the school is in accordance with the Church of England Foundation. This foundation is also reflected in the curriculum and the whole life of the school community. Since the conduct of the school as a whole reflects the Church of England ethos, removal of pupils from Worship and/or Religious Education (as parents are legally entitled to do) cannot isolate them from the religious life of the school.
